The Recycling Patrol chalked up another record: over 130,000 kg of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) were collected in 2014 with the help of the Supporters!
Starting March 2014, The Recycling Patrol Supporters – companies and institutions from across the country disposed of obsolete electrical appliances and encouraged their employees and partners to follow their example in order to support the children and teachers of the local Recycling Patrol.
Cristian Oprea, Project Manager explains this above-expectations success:
”We started in full strength the new edition! The first three months we collected the largest amount for this period since the beginning of the program in 2011, due to our Supporters. As they assumed more and more ambitious tasks, the agents of the Patrol ”knocked at the door” of companies and institutions that have e-waste to dispose of and more importantly, where people work, cooperate and motivate each other. Organizations where an act can inspire an entire community. The Supporters team extended nationwide slow and steady and significantly contributed to the successes we proudly highlight. The power of their example is the most valuable gain. This fact proves to every one of us how simple it can be to do a good deed for the nature and the community.”
bauMax is 2014 top Supporter! The company disposed of 12,000 kg of WEEE and contributed to the success of the Patrols who won the national awards at the 2013-2014 edition. ”We would like to bring our contribution to the educational mission to boost responsibility among children and teachers so that they can promote recycling at a large scale. Separate collection means responsibility against the environment and an important step towards a better life for all of us” said Marius Tănase, bauMax representative.
Other companies as well gave as good as they got. SC Ciurezu SRL/Vâlcea, Tonis Trade/ Constanța, SC Dunărea SA and Comcereal/Brăila and Panalim/ Sibiu disposed each of over one tonne of e-waste on the account of the Patrol.
Traditional partners of the program – the National Agency of Public Servants, local Education Boards, local offices of the Environment Guard, media partners AGERPRES and Radio 3Net ”Florian Pittiș” – became Supporters and inspired several other public institutions to follow their example.
Impressive contributions came from schools that although were not members in the program joined their colleagues’ efforts of awareness raising and collection with great satisfaction.
”By September 2015 we plan to reach 1,000,000 kg of e-waste collected by the Recycling Patrol since the program was launched, and all premises are favorable”, announces Andreea Idriceanu, Communication Manager, RoRec Association.
The companies, institutions, schools and consumers can dispose of e-waste at the collecting points spread all over the country, by calling up the Green Line 0800 444 800 (free of charge call from all networks) or by writing to suporterpatrula@rorec.org.
Every consumer disposing of e-waste contributes to raising children’s chances to win one of the national awards.
