The permanent free pick up from home service for electrical and electronic equipment , a premiere in Romania, was launched at the end of 2012, in Timisoara. The success of this new and efficient program for WEEE collection drew the attention of local authorities from other counties of Romania. Thus, after less than 2 months from the start of this project in Timisoara, the municipality of Baia Mare adopted this initiative of RoRec Association in February 2013. In March 2013, the same service was launched in Satu Mare.

The call center for this service in Baia Mare registered over  50 orders from citizens interested to dispose of old or broken equipment and after the first collection, on February 28th, more than 4 tons of WEEE were gathered. From the 70 orders received in the first month of activity from the Satu Mare’s citizens, who were eager to dispose of their old home appliances in a correct and responsible way, more than 4.4 tons of WEEE were collected on Saturday, March 2nd. This result proves that every phone call matters and every collected item can contribute to pollution mitigation.

The citizens in Baia Mare benefit from the same collection system as in Timisoara, based on a phone request at the following numbers, especially set up for citizens by the municipality and RoRec Association: 0720.811.640 and 0756.036.205, available from Monday to Saturday, between 09.00-18.00. The last Thursday of every month is the day dedicated for the collection of all items as scheduled by phone.

In Satu Mare, the citizens, public institutions, economic operators who would like to responsibly dispose of their e-waste are invited to call up the phone numbers: 0742.550.071 and 0756.055.632, available from Monday to Saturday, between 09.00-18.00. In the case of Satu Mare, the collection takes place in the first Saturday of each month.
