Bucharest, October 20, 2016 – the Recycling Patrol and Romania Telekom Foundation launch (W)DEEECollect application, the first application that facilitates the responsible collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). This action also comes as a warning sign on the scope of environmental education in Romania, which needs support to echo at the national level.
The application is supported by Telekom Foundation and available in Google Play Store for Android smartphone operating system. Authentication can be done through Facebook profile, Google+ or email address.
With DEEECollect application the user can find out the nearest collection point and where to store any electrical waste. It also has available an interactive map to show the collection points depending on the location and type of waste to be disposed of.
Through the application, those who hold large and heavy electrical waste can call the local collection service for free pick-up from home or work.
DEEECollect also allows alerts on abandoned electrical waste at any place other than the point of collection and application users benefit from these options, wherever they are in the country.
