Over 18,000 students participate in the Recycling Patrol program

The 2011-2012 edition of the Recycling Patrol educational program is past the stage of installing the WEEE collection kits and delivering the materials required for conducting the program in the institutions of the seven counties included in the Recycling Patrol.

Thus, despite the bad weather, the specially designed leaflets for the three age groups (pre-school, school and high school) and the badges, together with the collection kits and the posters for this edition were delivered to all participating institutions within approximately two weeks.

We soon had feedback from those who joined the program, with two institutions from the county of Prahova mentioning the participation to the Recycling Patrol on the blog of School no. 2 from Boldesti-Scaieni: http://scoalascaieni2.wordpress.com/2012/01/21/lansarea-proiectului-patrula-de-reciclare/. In addition, the program was also mentioned on the blog of the School Center for Inclusive Education no. 1 from Bistrita, http://edu-eco-art.blogspot.com/2012/02/patrula-de-reciclare.html.

The 2011-2012 edition of the Recycling Patrol project will take place in the pre-school and pre-university education institutions from the counties participating to the project, until June 15th 2012.
The current stage of the program consists of carrying out constant WEEE, batteries and portable accumulators, lamps and light bulbs collection activities at the points installed in every education institution. Also, each institution is invited to contribute one/several own activities to the program in order to promote the WEEE collection activities from the respective education institution to the target public in the proximity (families of students and teachers, citizens living near the school, neighbors). The period considered in evaluating the activity of the enrolled teams is February 1st – May 15th 2012.

One education institution can sign up with a single project that may include several types of activities conducted under the Recycling Patrol program. The coordinating teacher of the education institution sends the project online by accessing the account created at the beginning of the program, at https://www.rorec.ro/ro/patrula-de-reciclare, until May 15th, 2012 at 06.00 pm.

This is the first edition when we invite the participating institutions to sign up for a creation competition to designate the poster of the next Recycling Patrol. The works of art (collages, drawings, paintings, graphics, computer drawings etc.) can be registered using the same mechanism that applies to reporting the activities carried out under the Recycling Patrol project, by filling in the Propose poster form, available in the account created by the coordinating teacher, https://www.rorec.ro/ro/patrula-de-reciclare.

With the help of manufacturers Indesit and Philips, the organizers will reward the performance at this edition as well by offering prizes to education institutions and coordinating teachers for the largest quantity of WEEE collected/Recycling Patrol member and other prizes, at both national and local level, in every institution that joined the program. The media partner of the Recycling Patrol program is Agerpress, the National Press Agency.
