The representatives of RoRec met with the teachers to present the program developed in partnership with local authorities and county boards of education. The Recycling Patrol is a program of environmental education, focused on collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment in schools to contribute to the European collection target of 4 kg WEEE/inhabitant and to encourage separate collection of this type of waste. The project helps students understand some of the causes of environmental pollution, make them aware of the contribution they can bring to a healthier environment and become the ambassadors of this ecological message within their communities. 

 

The schools in Mehedinti, Gorj, Dolj and Constanța have, for the first time, the opportunity to join the Recycling Patrol planned to expand this year in more than 20 counties. With the launch of the second national edition, on the 20th of September, around 650 schools and more than 23,000 children are expected to join this voluntary movement that contributes through its tangible results to environmental protection and community wealth, by promoting WEEE separate collection. At this edition as well, the teams that will succeed in collecting the largest amount of WEEE and will come up with the most creative projects and the best idea for the Patrol’s mascot will be rewarded with prizes.  

 

Thus, in all participating schools, WEEE collection kits will be installed for small household appliances, bulbs/fluorescent lamps and batteries. All registered students will receive the program brochure, adapted to their age.
