The National Collection Network, a RoRec Association project, continues to expand with the launching of a new WEEE collection center in the city of Alexandria.
“Ever since the beginning, one of our Association’s priorities was to contribute to reaching the minimum quota as required by the European Union. This can be made possible both by public information campaigns and by the involvement of authorities in this project so that more people would benefit from an accessible system for disposing of old or broken equipments.”, stated Liviu Popeneciu, President of the Romanian Association for Recycling RoRec.
The new collection center in Alexandria is operational from Thursday, May 3rd and the inhabitants of Alexandria and neighboring areas have now the possibility to dispose of their electrical and electronic equipments by bringing them to the center in Libertatii Street, no 550, every Wednesday between 15.00-18.00 and Saturday, between 09.00-13.00.
Furthermore, natural and legal entities have at their disposal a free pick up service from home/headquarters in the case of large or heavy equipment, by calling 0720 716 681 or 0751 302 118, available from Monday to Friday, between 09.00-18.00, and Saturday between 09.00-15.00.
“The opening of a collection center is long overdue for our community. We are very happy to have taken another step in the development of our city and I would like to encourage all citizens to participate in our collection campaigns and dispose of their old home appliances.”, stated Victor Drăgușin, Mayor of Alexandria.
The opening of the collection center is accompanied by a series of WEEE collection mini-events at 5 temporary drop-off points in Alexandria:
- Dunarii Street – 1 Mai Area
- Libertatii Street – Pietei Area
- Bucuresti Street – „V-uri” Area
- 1 Decembrie Street Parking
- In front of the House of Culture
Each participant will receive a raffle ticket, which offers the chance of winning one of the prizes from Albastros: 5 x refrigerator, 5 x microwave ovens, 5 x vacuum cleaner.
The volunteer award ceremony and the raffle will take place on Friday, May 4th, in front of the House of Culture in Alexandria, starting 19.00 o’clock. This event will be closed by Mircea Vintilă – RoRec musical ambassador – and Brambura band, who will perform a concert dedicated to all those who care for a better and a cleaner world.
