The agents of the Recycling Patrol of the National Architecture and Public Works College ”Ioan N. Socolescu” (CTALP) in Bucharest made a ”triumphal” entrance in the ceremony hall. Not only did the proudly held banner with the name of the high school impress us, but also the winner attitude, the team spirit and the respect showed for their teacher. They had all the reasons – they were receiving two prizes: for the most active coordinating teacher – Mrs. Ștefania Dobrin and for contributing to the collection of the greatest WEEE amount/participating student in District 1.
The big mobilization
The success of the patrol of Ioan Socolescu College comes with an example of contribution of the principals and the school leadership. ”All activities we have organized, according to the annual program, were approved by the Teachers Board so that we could engage as many students as possible. We are all winners, especially the Patrol’s members as they enjoyed the appreciation of their schoolmates and teachers at the end of the project. Not to forget the parents, “the big family” of CTALP. A united family!”
We have indeed seen that they were a team at the collection campaigns they organized, when they managed to convince the people in District 1 to dispose of more than 1,500 WEEE kg.
Their success has a paramount importance as it made them feel ”more mature, more responsible and more confident in what they planned for their future.” That is how Mrs. Dobrin sees the evolution of the agents during the program. ”Now they are sure that they can do more. Actually, a winner has to trust in his own force and aim for the better in everything he does.”
Active in the Patrol, performing at school
How can a noble cause win in front of the internet, shopping, games and other attractions that compete for the young people’s time? Teacher Ștefania Dobrin explains to us what convinced the students to join the Recycling Patrol: ”The idea to take part in a new activity, to work in a team, to be positive examples for the schoolmates, to know themselves better.” Interesting… the youngsters at CNALP value challenges that help them discover and test themselves.
”That is how we did not have absent people anymore, they all got good grades and became a united team.” We dare to see beyond words – the experience of the Recycling Patrol made them more responsible, more careful and united towards the environment and in their relationship with the others and with themselves.
A true plea for voluntariness and for extra-curriculum activities that build up the personality, the values system and the initiative spirit of the youngsters, thanks to the teachers.
”During the next school year we will go on, focusing more on other educational and science areas, on more efficient ways to collect and promote these activities in other circles.” reveals Mrs. Dobrin.
Architects and urbanists to be, the students of CNALP ”Ioan N. Socolescu” in Bucharest already build up the cities of the future with every gesture of respect for the nature that they convince us to make. As cities are not built by professionals, but by all those who live in.
