On the World Environment Day, the award ceremony of the current edition of Recycling Patrol will take place simultaneously in Bucharest and all participating counties. At the ceremonies the winners at local and national level will be announced and be awarded their respective prizes.
The agents of the Recycling Patrol have separately collected more than 230,000 kg of WEEE at the 2012-2013 edition of this educational environment program, organized by the Romanian Recycling Association, in partnership with Education Boards and City Halls in Bucharest and 29 counties.
The Recycling Patrol is an educational program of environment protection for schools, focused on WEEE collection and recycling. At the 2012 – 2013 edition, 21,000 young people and more than 720 teachers from as many schools took part in the program. They made up „Recycling Patrols” in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and high schools in Bucharest and other 29 counties.
Under the supervision of the coordinating teachers and with the help of educational materials provided by RoRec Association, the participating students understood some of the pollution causes and directly contributed to their mitigation, by becoming ambassadors of this ecological message.
The children initiated hundreds of projects and activities that convinced their communities’ members to become more aware of the importance of WEEE separate collection and to dispose of it in a responsible way.
In Bucharest, the award ceremony of the 2012-2013 edition will take place on Wednesday, June 5th, at the Festivity Hall of the National College Mihai Eminescu (Str. George Georgescu no 2, District 4), starting at 11.00.

”We are looking forward to rewarding the top performances of these patrols and as you will see, they are impressive. We are talking about important amounts of e-waste and about very creative and efficient public information and education campaigns. These teachers and youngsters proved to be real agents of a mentality change in their communities and invested in their ecological mission above expectations. They deserve to be acknowledged both as Recycling Patrol champions and role models of responsibility and involvement.” says Alexandra Arnăutu, Project Manager.
